FAQ’s

  • You do not require a referral or care plan to book an appointment and engage in treatment. However, in some circumstances, your clinician may recommend that you obtain a referral or care plan from your GP. If you are eligible for a Medicare care plan, this may reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

    Eating Disorder Plan (EDP)
For individuals diagnosed with an eating disorder, an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP) provides access to up to 20 Medicare-subsidised dietetic sessions within a 12-month period.

An EDP must be prepared by a qualified medical practitioner, such as a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

Chronic Disease Management Care Plan (CDMP):
Also known as a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan, this care plan provides access to up to five Medicare-subsidised allied health sessions per calendar year for individuals with eligible chronic health conditions.

Dietetic services must be recommended as part of the care plan, and the number of sessions allocated is determined by the GP.

    Private Health Insurance:
You may be eligible to claim a rebate through your private health insurance if your policy includes extras cover for nutrition or dietetic services. Please check directly with your insurer regarding eligibility and rebate amounts.

  • Maddison Fawdry Dietetics is an online private practice providing individualised, evidence-based dietetic assessment, support and intervention.

Sessions offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviours related to food, while building practical skills to support long-term health and wellbeing.

    Initial Session
Your first appointment includes a comprehensive assessment of your current concerns, as well as relevant medical, dietary and psychosocial history. This helps to identify treatment priorities and collaboratively establish goals that feel meaningful and achievable.

By the end of the session, your clinician will outline an initial treatment plan tailored to your needs. The first session also provides an opportunity for you to determine whether the clinician feels like the right fit for you and whether you feel ready to proceed.

    Review Sessions
Ongoing sessions are tailored to your individual goals and priorities. They typically involve reviewing progress, exploring current eating patterns and behaviours, providing relevant nutrition education, and engaging in collaborative problem-solving to ensure your goals are being addressed at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.
